Bushmaster and Defiant mods

Trigger mod

When I first got my gun, I knew the trigger could be shorter. So I started fiddling with the two trigger screws. The top screw is the one that acctuates the micro switch which fires a ball. The bottom is simply a trigger stop screw to prevent from over pulling the trigger thus resulting in a higher rate of fire. I screwed the top one and the bottom one in little increments and measured how far each could go in additionally. I ended up with a trigger at just a shade over .5mm. To hold the trigger in place, I used a little bit of clear nail polish and it works great. It will not back out but it will screw in and out for easy adjusting. Try this if you need a shorter trigger. Pretty simple.

Improved ICD ram

The new ram is a replacement upgrade part that now comes stock on every new Bushmaster 2000. What ICD basically did to improve the speed of the ram, they have taken off about 15 grams on the hammer, and they also added a spring so the ram is by default in the forward position. This adds to the speed of the ram. Certain early rams in the past had a problem with the first shot of the game not firing very low or drooping. This was cause by an o-ring binding inside the ram shaft and has apparently been remedied now. Also, if you have this problem that you should clean and grease the spool shaft inside the solenoid. The solenoid is fairly easy to take apart but I would suggest that you contact ICD for this since there are many small parts that can fall out and get lost. If you do not have one of these rams, you can contact ICD and they will put one in for you for free.   ICD paintball It looks like this.

Icd has now moved gone back to the flat headed rams. They have just made the shaft a little longer.

Bushmaster and Defiant aftermarket parts

The folllowing aftermarket parts for the Bushmaster and Defiant are now for sale at www.atomicpb.com. These parts include a sweet spot trigger, higher rise feed tube, Low pressure thumb adjuster, a Regulator adaptor, or a whole package with all the items listed above plus a Vigilante regulator and a low pressure spring for the regulator. All these items I will describe below.

Sweet spot trigger

The sweet spot trigger is the same adjustible trigger as the stock trigger found on the Bushmaster 2000 and the Defiant only it is 20 thousanths thicker so it will take out the side to side slop and looseness of the stck trigger. It runs for $39.99 at Atomic paintball and looks like this.

I have heard some bad things about this trigger. The trigger has a rough texture on its surface that can potentially create a sticky trigger pull if it is pulled at an angle. The stock trigger is anodized clear along with the gun process and therefore feels smooth when the trigger is pulled.

Higher feed tube

The higher feed tube is only available in polished chrome at this time. The higher feed tube allows for the newer models of the revolutions to fit in it. The stock feed tube found on the Bushmasters and Defiants are too big to allow a VL revolution to be put into them. The reason is because Brass Eagle started making their revolutions to fit perfect on their electronic gun the "Rainmaker". when they did this, they made all other guns on the market have to buy adaptors or make their own and no one wants to have to do this. This extended feed tube allows more balls to be in the elbow at one time so a decrease in ball breakage occurs. The higher feed tube also allows you to see your bolt link pin because it rises your loader up a little higher off the gun. It costs $19.99 at Atomic paintball, and looks like this.

If you are willing to sacrifice your loader being a little higher on the gun for less ball breakage and better fit of your revolution, then buy this piece. I think you will be happy with it.

Low pressure thumb adjuster

Atomic paintball is also selling a Low pressure thumb adjuster that screws right int your Low pressure regulator. No more fiddling with those two screws in the front of the regulator just turn the knob and adjust it with little problems at all. The thumb adjuster also has an o-ring on the end of it to prevent any air that may possibly escape. It also has a wide adjustment knob so it can be grasped easily for those quick adjustments at the chrono or on the field if needed. The Low pressure thumb adjuster sells for $17.49 at is just like the one seen in the picture below.

The only thing that this thumb adjuster doesn't have is a tourney lock to lock it down tight. This should not a problem though because your LP regulator should not back out on you too often. If your Lp regulator does, then you should contact Indian Creek Designs and have them fix it.

Regulator adaptor

The regulator adaptor from Atomic paintball is an adaptrot hat will let you put any aftermarket regulator on your gun as you choose. (I suggest the Vigilante regulator from Air America, or the Palmer's stabalizer) You unscrew your stock regulator then use some muscle power and turn the top piece between the reg and the gun body off. Replace it with the new one and screw in your new regulator. It also has a guage port

This regulator can be bought at Atomic paintball for 29.99. I suggest you get one and a new regulator. These two items can boost the performance of your gun by a lot. From +/- 5 to 10 fps on the stock reg, down to +/- 2 fps with a vigilante on most guns.

Bob Long's turbo board

Bob Long and Delta have a new turbo board coming out for the Defiant and the Bushmaster 2000. I heard it was expected to come out sometime around March and about the same time as the electronic anti-chop eye. These two items will be packaged seperate however. Here is what I have heard so far on the Bob Long turbo board: Basically, at a rate of fire above two shots per second, the gun will shoot at 1.5 shots per pull. What this means is that every other trigger pull will shoot two balls. This increases your rate of fire by 50%. This is different than the Smart Parts turbo board in that the SP turbo board will keep a memory of trigger "bounces" and then regulate these trigger events into a rate of fire to up to 11.5bps. This means that the new Bob Long board will potentially be able to fire faster than the SP board. If you can pull the trigger at 8 pulls per second, the gun will fire at 12bps. If you can do 9 pulls per second, the gun will fire at 13.5bps. It's amazingly fast. Now these two boards are different than the turbo board that you might have heard of from ICD. ICD's board is basically a semi only board that cuts a few milliseconds off each trigger pull. It means that the gun cycles faster than before but does not acutually have any "turbo" effects.

Wet Worx bolt

Wet Worx paintball products has come out with a new aftermarket bolt for the Bushmaster 2000 and the Defiant. These bolts are CNC milled to exact specs. Instead of the air coming through one hole and putting all the pressure on one spot on the ball as in the stock bolt, the wet worx bolt distributes it through 6 holes to the outside to increase accuracy and reduce ball breakage. They also come in any colors so you can make that existing Bushy of your even more unique. Colors can be seen below.

This bolt and the Smock bolt both are good investments and can improve your accuracy. Probably told best by wet worx themselves. Here is what they said: "This bolt increases gas efficiency and lowers operating pressure as well as increasing accuracy". These bolts are 39.99 for white or black and 42.99 for any other color directly from the company or you can purchase them from me for $34 for black or white and $37 for any other color. Go to the Sales section for more info. You also get free shipping if you are a BDM/BDO member. Wet Worx can be contacted at WetWorxPBinc@aol.com

Smock bolt

This bolt was made and designed by Dan Smock. The Smock bolt as I call it is very similar to the Wet worx bolt. As you can see in the picture however the Smock bolt distributes the air flow into 8 small holes instead of 6 as in the Wet worx bolt. This bolt is made of delrin by the way which is the same material used in the stock bolt. Dan also finishes each bolt by hand to assure that they fit as tight as possible but can still move around freely. I'm not sure which is better but will soon enough when these two bolts come to me. This bolt is considerably cheaper though at $25 + $3 shipping. It only comes in one color, which may be its downside. But it is still an excellent bolt. You can contact Dan at surfnut@olynet.com

Smock bolt

I suggest getting a new bolt. You will be happy with either bolt listed on this page. better accuracy = more hits = MORE FUN!. These bolts are no longer in production. The only reason I leave this up here is so you can see hwat products have been made past and present for the BM2K.

Wet Worx high - flow valve

Wet-Worx Painball Products, Inc. has just developed the new High-Flow Valve for the Defiant and Bushmaster 2000. The High-Flow valve has a larger air passage and tends to have better air flow and a higher flow rate than the stock valve. The new valves are Machined from high quality aluminum on Precision CNC Milling machines, and tends to lower operating pressure which varies from marker to marker(markers with larger air chambers such as with a DYE vertical adapter and aftermarket regulator tend to have better results than stock markers due to the larger volume of air behind the valve). Wet Worx have had markers during testing which, with the new valve, chrono'd at 285fps (avg.) with an operating pressure of only 180psi using a DYE vertical adapter and ANS Gen-x II regulator. the price is $30 per valve. I will also be carrying these in the near future. If you wish to contact Wet Worx Paintball, their contact info is listed above just under the Wet Worx bolt info.

Timberwolf Paintball's Chaos Chip

Timberwolf paintball (www.timberwolfpaintball.com) has just came out with a new Turbo chip for the Bushmaster 2000 and Defiant paintball markers. he chip is called the "Chaos Chip" and it is not a whole new board such as the Bob Long turbo board but just an easy drop in mod. to your existing stock board. The "Chaos Chip" just replaces your main circuit chip on your existing board and all you have to do to install it is pop out the old one and put in the new one as shown in the diagram below.

The chip is identical in shape to the stock ICD chip which means the "Chaos Chip" will fit neatly and snugly in place.

Just pop out your old chip and place the new one in its place as mentioned above. (The chip to pop out is circled in red in this picture.)

The new "Chaos Chip" has four firng modes. You have to give up your 3-shot and 6-shot burst functions but it is well worth it. The four modes are as follows:

To program which mode you want to shoot in just hold the trigger and turn the gun on. The LED flashes once (semi-auto), pauses, twice (Turbo), pauses, three times(auto-response), pauses, and four times (full-auto). Release the trigger after the flashes corresponding to the firing mode you want. IT'S THAT EASY!!! The LED then flashes to verify the mode you selected. No more fooling around with the grip panel to set which mode you want to shoot in. Tourney lockout mode to disable trigger programming included. The gun will default to mode selected by DIP switches. This keeps you tourney legal!!

The new chip also comes with a Sleep mode... After 20 minutes of no activity from the gun, the LED will flash 10 times and then turn power to the gun off if it is not already off. This helps save your battery and helps to avoid accidental misfires. Just turn the switch off and then back on, and you are ready to play some serious ball!

Installation of the "Chaos Chip" is also very simple. No special tools required, and you do not even remove your circuit board as I stated above. Less than 5 minutes! The package the chip comes in includes everything you need as well as detailed instructions all which come packaged in an anti static bag. Installation is also reverseable with no effects to your gun. Just pop out the chaos board prior to sending it in for warranty work, etc.

The chip comes in a anti-static bag as seen in the above picture.

And the price in awesome for what you get. Only $99 plus $3.20 shipping! You can E - Mail Timberwolf Paintball directly atTimberpbal@aol.com. Timberwolf accepts Visa, MC, Discover, check, Money Order or COD (add $5).
